Sedgwick County Election Commissioner resigns

Sedgwick County's Election Commisioner has resigned, after giving himself a self-imposed term limit.

"To tell you the truth, I didn't think I'll be here for eight years," said Bill Gale.

Gale has sent a letter of resignation to Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who will now have to appoint a new Sedgwick County Election Commissioner. Gale's last day is set of November 5th, eight years and two days since he took the job on November 3rd, 2003.

"I almost talked myself into finishing the term (in July 2013)," Gale says.

He was appointed in the middle of the term, after serving eight years on the Wichita City Council.

Gale now plans to go into the non-profit sector.
