Why does Kansas have so many tornadoes?
There is one HUGE reason. First up is the fact that it is in the central plains. The central plains are right between the Appalachian and the Rocky Mountains. The placing makes a type of alley. It allows polar air to stream right down and clash with gulf air from the south. The result is a constant clash of polar air from the north, with tropical air from the south, and constant weather instability, aka tornadoes.
